"Because a temperamental fountain pen with an unreliable ink flow caused him to lose an important contract, in 1883 Lewis Edson Waterman, at that time an insurance broker, created the forefather of the modern fountain pen: the Regular.  The history of writing with a pen would never be the same.  Today, more than 100 years later, WATERMAN remains faithful to its tradition of innovation and continues to transform the history of handwriting.
