The IPO is the original Franklin-Christoph writing instrument. Each manufactured part is contracted to specialists in the field. The nib and feed are produced by two German firms, while the metacrylate barrel and cap are produced in Italy. The clip is hand made by an Italian jeweler. The nib is a flexible solid 18K gold, platinum plated, and coupled with a smooth flowing feed, for even distribution of ink. The barrel and cap are cut from a solid bar of metacrylate acrylic, for hardness and durability. The barrel is long enough to write with un-posted, in the European style, while the pen remains light enough for balance, while writing with the cap posted. The clip is solid sterling silver, with a flex band for a firm grip in the pocket. The slight upturn at the end of the clip, and the smooth undersurface allow for an easy entry into and out of the pocket without catching.
