About the Schut Mill -- Est. 1618
Clairefontaine's fine art paper is
manufactured at the Schut paper mill in the Netherlands. Almost 400 years
of paper making experience and proven, traditional methods contribute to making
this paper an excellent support for watercolor, gouache and other watercolor or
oil-based mediums. Schut also manufactures paper for dry techniques, such
as drawing paper.
Fine art paper has become artistic support "par excellence." Progress in paper making technology and machine capability has combined to produce a perfect paper for each artistic medium and technique.
